Programmable hardware is becoming increasingly popular in the recent years, yet the software tools for working with such programmable hardware are dominated by closed-source proprietary solutions. This is now changing. In this presentation, Marek will summarize the open-source tools for working with programmable hardware, like "icestorm" and "debit". Marek will show how to use the open-source tools to produce a working design and explains the benefits and limitations of such solutions. At the end of the talk, Marek will outline the process of implementing such tools to demonstrate why this is so much effort.
