Building Containers for 10,000 Applications - Marty Pauley, Goldman Sachs

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Docker and other container technologies have delivered more power into the hands of developers, who now have complete control over their software dependencies and runtime configuration. But containers can also carry problems and vulnerabilities that were previously dealt with by the infrastructure or operations teams.

Are developers equipped to handle the responsibility for supportability and security? With components like bash and openssl in many containers, who will patch the next Shellshock or Heartblead across a large diverse organisation? Should every team independently track Java vulnerabilities? Do developers need to become system administrators?

In this presentation we will describe strategies for building containers that keep the benefits while mitigating the risks.
