Amazon EC2 Container Service (ECS) is high performance resource management service for Amazon EC2 instance clusters. It exposes the full cluster state directly through APIs and includes two built-in container schedulers. In this session, we will describe how we built a Mesos scheduler driver that enables Mesos scheduling frameworks such as Marathon, Chronos and Aurora to work with Amazon ECS without requiring a Mesos cluster. We'll also explain how to use this scheduler driver with or without modifying the existing scheduler. We’ll explain what is the resource manager and scheduler, how the scheduler driver works with Mesos, and how we implemented it to communicate with the Amazon ECS API. We’ll also show a demo of Marathon working with an Amazon ECS cluster.
